PEACE ADVOCACY VISIT TO BARKIN LADI LGA OF PLATEAU STATE NIGERIA ON THE 10TH JUNE 2014.

DREP PROJECT TEAM AND THE KEY LEADERS OF TAKWOK COMMUNITY
DREP Centre on the 10th of June 2014 went for advocacy visit to Barkin Ladi LGA of Plateau State to meet the key representatives of the Muslim and Christian members of the community. We visited TAKWOK community in ROPP district first, where the DREP PROGRAM ASSISTANT MANAGER “Mr. Kamai Solomon”, introduced the.....
DREP Project team, the organization, and the purpose of the advocacy visit.

Mr. Pam Choji, former councilor of ward welcomed DREP project team, and introduced the other six key members representing the community. He told DREP that the community is in desperate need for peace and welcome the purpose of our project, but included that hope DREP will also train the Fulani community youths on peace building. Mr. Davou Bature the “ward head” also contributed by saying he welcomes any type of project that would bring sustainable peace to their community.

RAKWOK KEY LEADERS AND DREP PROJECT TEAM
Our next stop was at RAKWOK COMMUNITY AT ROPP DISTRICT, at this community we met Mr. Joshua D. Fom, the former councilor of ward, who appreciated our visit and said he prays for lasting peace to come and stay by God grace. Also present was the ward head Mr. Pam Vou and also present was the supervising councilor of the ward.

MIYITTI ALLAH CATTLE BREEDERS ASSOCIATION AND DREP PROJECT TEAM
Our last stop was at the MIYETTI ALLAH CATTLE BREEDERS ASSOCIATION OFFICE” in Barkin Ladi. At the office, Mr. Solomon Kamai, introduced the DREP project team, and explain the purpose of the advocacy visit. Mallam Mohammed Adam Mohammed on behalf of the Fulani community, introduced all the key community members present at the peace building meeting. He further said, they are all tired of the conflicts with their neighbours and they the Fulanis even want sustainable peace and social development. The “ARDO”, concurred on what Mallam Mohammed said, and confirmed he solidly support DREP center initiative to train their youths on peace building. He said he believes the training will bring positive change to the lives of the stubborn youths who are disrespectful to their parents and elder ones.

PURPOSE OF VISIT:- Need to educate the youths of the community on “COMMUNITY DIALOGUE & PEACE BUILDING SENSITIZATION”.

DREP COULD NOT VISIT THE LAST COMMUNITY (WAREH) BECAUSE THE MEDIATOR MOBILE PHONE NUMBERS WAS NOT GOING THROUGH DUE TO BAD NETWORK
