MEETING OF RELIGIOUS AND ETHNIC/COMMUNITY LEADERS AT DREP CENTER ON 19TH JUNE 2014 IN JOS, PLATEAU STATE NIGERIA.

RELIGIOUS, ETHNIC AND COMMUNITY LEADERS AFTER  A PEACE DIALOGUE AND RECONCILIATION MEETING
From the peace dialogue and reconciliation consultative meeting of Religious,Ethnic and Community leaders held on 19th June 2014, the leaders noted the following observations (read below please):....

  • With gladness there seem to be more genuine attempts at peaceful coexistence by Christains and Muslims in Plateau State, drawing from recent twin bomb blast attack by terrorist group Boko Harem in Jos Terminus market, everyone came together to help and condenm the attack, Christians and Muslims alike.
  • They condemned with one voice the bomb attack on innocent lives in Jos city on 20th and 24th of May 2014. They condoled with all affected by the dastardly act. They also commend our people for their calmness in the face of hunger, disease and hardship during and after the incident as there was no record of reprisal attacks. They appealed the people should remain calm and be security conscious the report any unusual suspect or act. 
  • They appealed to the government to hasten efforts at securing and reopening the terminus market so that traders can go back to business soon because its their main source of livelihood.
  • They resolve to collaborate as one with government at all levels in this noble task to bring back sustainable peace. 
  • They appealed to government to include as much as possible, major religious and traditional leaders particularly from this forum in the different for a where issues of peace in the state are discussed.
  • They acknowledged with goodwill that peace can come and stay in Plateau state only through the joint and  of all efforts of all people in the state who are directly affected by the absence of peace.
